Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has commiserated with Prince Nduka Obaigbena, Chairman of Arise Television, alongside the management and staff of the station, over the death of Somtochukwu Maduagwu, who was killed during a robbery at her Abuja residence.
In a statement issued in Ibadan on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Media, Dr Suleimon Olanrewaju, the governor described Maduagwu as a thoroughbred professional who consistently gave her best on air.
“Her death is unfortunate because she still had much to contribute to the media world and the country as a whole. It is not just a loss to her family or her employers, but a national loss,” Makinde said.
He urged her relatives and colleagues to take solace in her legacy while praying for God to grant them the strength to bear the loss.
“Despite our pains and agony, I beseech her relations, colleagues and all of us as Nigerians to look beyond our pains and work towards birthing a Nigeria where everyone will be safe. It is my prayer that God grants repose to her soul and fortitude to those she left behind,” he added.

What a tragedy! Makindes words about Maduagwu being a thoroughbred professional and an unfortunate loss sound so formal, almost like a press release itself. Its a shame she couldnt contribute much more, though Im sure her family and colleagues can find some solace in her legacy. Honestly, his prayer for a Nigeria where everyone will be safe is the ultimate tall order, even beyond finding fortitude! Rest in peace, though – thats definitely one for the legacy books.act two ai video
What a tragic turn of events! Lamenting the loss of Maduagwu is one thing, but Governor Makindes plea for us to look beyond our pains and work towards a safer Nigeria is quite the ambitious project, wouldnt you say? While we gather our strength, perhaps we can also try to figure out a foolproof way to prevent such unfortunate losses to the media world in the future. Fingers crossed, and maybe a tiny, tiny bit more security!grow a garden calculator
Oh, another media professional gone, poor Somtochukwu Maduagwu. Makinde Governor sounds all serious, talking about national loss and birthing a safer Nigeria. Bless her soul, indeed! And we all take solace in her legacy, Im sure. Lord, give strength to her relations and colleagues – though I suspect theyll also need strength to figure out who gets her fancy new car. This is truly a time for us all to unite, look beyond our pains, and work towards a Nigeria where everyone is safe… well, except maybe the ones who like being alive. Repose to her soul, and fortitude to those left behind, especially the one who might inherit her social media handles. #NationalLoss #BlessHerSoul #SafeNigeriaSoonquay random
