The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State has announced plans to host a grand reception for President Bola Tinubu during his visit to the state, which will coincide with the official welcoming of Governor Umo Eno into the party.
Speaking at a press briefing on Friday in Uyo, APC chieftain Senator Ita Enang confirmed the party’s readiness to receive the President, Vice President, the APC National Chairman, and governors elected on the party’s platform.
Eno had on June 6 formally announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, a move Enang described as aligning Akwa Ibom with the political centre of the country.
“As progressives, we shall work with the governor and his supporters to ensure that they fit into the party without hitches,” Enang said.
He added that the APC would honour all agreements made with the governor and pledged full cooperation to help align the state’s programmes with the party’s ideals and manifesto.
The former presidential aide expressed confidence that the governor’s entry would result in a beneficial political merger for the state and its people.
“We will also work with them to align programmes of the state government with the ideals and manifesto of the party,” he stated.
