Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno has donated N5 million each to the families of eight members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) who were recently killed in an explosion along the Dikwa–Marte road.

During a condolence visit to the bereaved families in Maiduguri on Friday, Zulum also announced scholarship awards for the children of the deceased.

Civilian CJTF is a volunteer security outfit that supports military operations against insurgents in Borno and other parts of the North-East.

“I want to announce a financial assistance of N5 million to each of the bereaved families to cater for their immediate needs.”

“Furthermore, the Borno Government will provide full educational scholarship to all children of the deceased CJTF members.”

“For those who left no children, we shall extend assistance to their close family members,” he said.

The governor stated that the gesture reflected his administration’s ongoing commitment to supporting the families of security personnel and CJTF members who paid the supreme price in the defence of the state.

Zulum described the fallen CJTF members as martyrs who made the ultimate sacrifice for their communities, assuring that their bravery would not be forgotten.

He prayed for the repose of their souls and encouraged the grieving families to take comfort in the heroic legacy left behind by their loved ones.

Eight CJTF operatives died on Tuesday after encountering an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in the area.
