Zambia and Orlando Pride forward Barbra Banda has been named the BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year after receiving the highest number of votes from readers of the BBC Sport website.
Banda’s recognition follows a five-player shortlist that was revealed last month, highlighting her impressive performances over the voting period from September 2023 to August 2024.
The shortlist was curated by a diverse panel of football experts from around the globe, including coaches, players, administrators, and non-BBC journalists. Banda’s remarkable achievements on the field have earned her this prestigious accolade, solidifying her status in women’s football.
