A 42-year-old woman, Bukola Solademi, was on Friday brought before a Mapo Grade A Customary Court in Ibadan for allegedly stealing carbonated drinks and bottled water worth N7.688 million.

Solademi pleaded not guilty to the single count charge brought against her.

The court’s President, Mrs O.E. Owoseni, granted her bail in the sum of N500,000, with two reliable sureties in the same amount.

Owoseni stipulated that the sureties must be blood relatives, present evidence of three years’ tax payment to the Oyo State Government, provide their National Identification Numbers, and show proof of ownership of landed property in Ibadan.

The case was adjourned till 4 July for hearing.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Ayodele Ayeni, told the court that the offence occurred between March 2024 and April 2025 at Ibikunle, Ayeye area of Ibadan.

Ayeni said Solademi allegedly stole 12 packs of Bigi water worth N14,750; 31 packs of Big Eva water valued at N309,400; and 176 packs of Mr V water valued at N264,400.

He further alleged that she took 405 packs of Predator worth N1.903 million and 14 packs of Schweppes valued at N57,600.

Other stolen items, according to Ayeni, included 244 packs of pet Coke worth N882,300; 20 packs of Big American Cola valued at N128,000; and 12 packs of Bigi Cola worth N240,000.

He listed additional items as one carton of Lacasera worth N1.85 million; 34 cartons of Pepsi valued at N104,100; 100 cartons of Coca-Cola worth N520,000; and 243 cartons of Fearless valued at N992,300.

The prosecutor also cited 75 cartons of Bigi Fanta worth N240,000; 14 packs of Sosa drink worth N4,000; and 395 packs of Big American Cola valued at N1.422 million.

Ayeni stated that the drinks belonged to a businesswoman, Ajoke Ayinde.

He said the offence contravened Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap. 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
