The University of Port Harcourt Women’s Association UPWA International Secondary School recently hosted the Inter-House Sports Competition at the university’s stadium.
The event, which took place in February 2025, was a vibrant display of sportsmanship, talent, and community engagement, featuring nine houses competing across various sporting events.
The well-attended competition drew participation from students, parents, guardians, staff, members of the university community, and guests, making it a memorable occasion filled with excitement and camaraderie.
Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor of UNIPORT, Prof. Owunari Georgewill, lauded the commitment of the President of the University of Port Harcourt Women Association (UPWA), in person of Professor Udeme Owunari Georgewill, and the school leadership for fostering a holistic approach to education.
“We commended the President of the University of Port Harcourt Women Association, Professor Udeme Owunari Georgewill, and the entire school for their commitment to not just academics but also the total human being—ensuring a fit brain in a healthy body,” he stated.
Prof. Georgewill encouraged students to embrace the competition in a spirit of sportsmanship and unity. “We urged the students to see the competition as friendly and celebrate one another,” he added.
The Vice-Chancellor also praised Prof. Udeme Georgewill for her focused leadership, which has significantly contributed to the progress of the school. “We commend the President of UPWA, Prof. Udeme Georgewill, for her focused leadership style that has greatly impacted the fortunes of the School,” he noted.
The inter-house sports competition, highlighted in This Week in Retrospect at UNIPORT, reinforced the importance of physical fitness alongside academic excellence, further enriching the student experience at UPWA International Secondary School.
