In a pivotal milestone of their academic journey, medical students at the University of Port Harcourt have officially commenced their clinical training, following the successful completion of the Part I Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) examinations in core foundational subjects: Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry.
Starreporters’ correspondence gathered that this transition marks the students’ entry into the Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences, which encompasses the Department of Pharmacology and the four divisions of Pathology. These departments will play a central role in shaping the students’ clinical acumen as they move into the next phase of their medical careers.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Owunari Georgewill, shared the news with a tone of pride and optimism, urging the students to maintain their commitment to academic excellence.
He emphasized the importance of focus and dedication as the students advance through the demanding stages of medical education.
Present to welcome the students were the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Obiorah, and faculty members who offered inspirational words and guidance. The gathering served as both an orientation and a motivational session to prepare the students for the rigors of clinical training.
The institution recorded the event as a symbolic initiation into a new chapter of the students’ lives—a chapter filled with hands-on learning, patient interaction, and deeper immersion into the medical sciences.
