The University of Port Harcourt has appointed Professor Victoria Olulu-Briggs as the new Director of the University of Port Harcourt Business School. Subject to satisfactory performance, the appointment will be effective April 4, 2025, and will run until April 3, 2027.

Professor Olulu-Briggs, a distinguished scholar in finance and investment, is a professor in the Department of Finance and Banking under the Faculty of Management Sciences. She is an alumnus of the department and the University of Port Harcourt, making her appointment a homecoming to further contribute to the institution’s academic and administrative growth.

In a formal letter signed by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Owunari A. Georgewill, the university tasked Professor Olulu-Briggs with overseeing the day-to-day administration of the Business School while ensuring academic excellence and administrative leadership.

The Vice-Chancellor emphasized that the appointment aligns with the university’s vision of strengthening business education and professional development. He also noted that Professor Olulu-Briggs would report to the Senate through the Vice-Chancellor and receive an approved duty allowance for the role.

While congratulating the new director, Professor Georgewill expressed optimism about a productive working relationship and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to excellence in business education.

Star Reporters obtained the official appointment letter, which also stated that the position requires strict adherence to institutional standards, and any failure to meet expectations could result in removal from office.

Professor Olulu-Briggs’s appointment is expected to bring strategic leadership and industry expertise to the University of Port Harcourt Business School, further advancing its academic and professional standing.
