The Governing Council of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has approved the promotion of 29 new professors across various disciplines in the institution.
This decision was reached during the 187th meeting of the university’s Governing Council, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s academic growth. The meeting, which is part of a week-long session, focused on reviewing reports from several council committees.
Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Owunari Georgewill, highlighted the importance of the meeting, noting that it serves as a platform for strategic decision-making and academic advancements.
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Council, Distinguished Senator Mao Ohuanbunwo, commended the members for their dedication and commitment to the university’s progress.
Starreporters correspondence reports that as part of the council’s agenda, members are scheduled to tour some of the university’s facilities to assess ongoing developments.
The institution revealed that the promotion of the 29 professors is expected to further strengthen its academic standing and strengthen its reputation as a leading institution in Nigeria’s higher education sector.
