The University of Port Harcourt has officially announced a three-week adjustment to its academic calendar due to disruptions caused by national holidays during the current semester.

The update, which was made public by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Owunari Georgewill, comes after a thorough review by the institution’s Committee of Provost and Deans.

According to the statement, the committee unanimously agreed to the extension to maintain academic quality and provide sufficient time for students and staff to meet their obligations.

As part of the changes, first-semester examinations, initially slated to end on April 14, 2025, will now conclude on April 25, 2025. Consequently, the second semester, which was set to begin on April 25, will now commence on May 16, 2025.

The revised calendar has already received the endorsement of the university’s executive council and is now pending ratification by the University Senate, which is expected to finalise the decision shortly.

The Vice Chancellor urged students and academic staff to take note of the new dates and align their preparations accordingly, emphasising that the adjustment was necessary to preserve the integrity of the academic process.

For further updates, students are advised to stay connected to official university communication channels.
