Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the University of Abuja (UniAbuja), Dr Olanrewaju Tejuoso, has approved the appointment of Mrs Roseline Adakayi as the new Acting Registrar of the institution.
This was announced in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by Dr Habib Yakoob, Acting Director of Information and University Relations at UniAbuja.
Yakoob stated that the appointment, effective from May 12, is to last six months pending the appointment of a substantive registrar. Adakayi succeeds Mrs Islamiya Abdulraheem, whose own six-month term as acting registrar ended on the same date.
According to the statement, Adakayi joined UniAbuja as an administrative officer on 2 November 1999 and rose to the rank of deputy registrar in 2013.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography from the University of Jos (1986), a Professional Diploma in Land Surveying from the Federal School of Surveying, Oyo (1990), and a Postgraduate Diploma in Photogrammetry from the Federal Centre for Training in Aerospace Surveys (RECTAS), Ile-Ife (1994).
“Adakayi is a seasoned administrator who has served in various departments of the University, such as Student Affairs Division (Hostel), Establishments, Institute of Education, and Council Division,” Yakoob said.
“She also served at the College of Health Sciences and the Centre for Distance Learning and Continuing Education before proceeding on sabbatical leave at the University of Jos in April 2024.”
He added that the acting vice-chancellor, Prof Patricia Manko Lar, congratulated Adakayi and encouraged her to bring her wealth of experience to bear in her new role.
