Troops of the Nigerian Army have neutralised several terrorists, apprehended 15 suspects, and recovered arms and military kits during recent nationwide operations.
Military sources at Army Headquarters confirmed that troops have maintained pressure on terrorists and criminal elements across various theatres.
In Borno State, troops of 151 Task Force Battalion killed one terrorist during an ambush around Sabsawa in Bama Local Government Area, recovering an AK-47 rifle loaded with 28 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. Another terrorist was eliminated by 192 Battalion along the Pulka–Ngoshe road in Gwoza Local Government Area, with an AK-47 rifle recovered at the scene. Blood trails found along the route suggested additional casualties.
Five family members of ISWAP/JAS fighters, including two women and three children, surrendered to troops at Banki Junction in Bama after escaping from Bula Daloye village. Troops from 50 Task Force Battalion and 134 Special Forces Battalion also recovered two artillery shells during an ambush along the Marte–Dikwa route in Dikwa LGA.
In Lagos, 12 impostors dressed in military uniforms and posing as officers and cadets of a fake corps were arrested by troops of 9 Brigade at Ojota. Another suspect in woodland camouflage was arrested by Operation SWEEP operatives at Waru in Abuja Municipal Area Council.
In the South-East, 145 Battalion troops arrested two suspected cultists in Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State. Recovered items included two locally made pistols, six cartridges, and personal effects.
In Rivers State, troops of 343 Artillery Regiment intercepted two wooden boats transporting about 400 litres of illegally refined condensate in Onelga Local Government Area. The suspects fled upon sighting troops.
The Nigerian Army restated its commitment to eradicating criminal elements and restoring peace across the country.
