Tony Okocha Elected New Chairman of Rivers APC Faction During State Delegate Congress
A faction of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has elected Tony Okocha as its new chairman in a State Delegate Congress held on Saturday. Okocha was elected unopposed through a voice vote, along with other party executives.
The congress was overseen by Dr. Adoye Omale, the Chairman of the Congress Planning Committee and a national delegate, who represented the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje.
In his acceptance speech, Okocha expressed the faction’s ambition to reclaim the seat of power in Rivers State by 2027, signaling a renewed commitment to the party’s objectives.
“You can count on us to work tirelessly towards taking over governance in Rivers State,” Okocha stated.
Additionally, Victor Giadom, the APC National Vice Chairman for the South-South zone, urged the newly elected leadership to prioritize inclusivity. He emphasized the importance of making sure that all party members feel valued and included in the decision-making processes going forward.
Our reporter, Emelda Ifeme, noted that the congress was monitored by delegates from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and attended by several prominent APC figures in Rivers State, including Senator Magnus Abe, Flag Amachree, and Ephraim Nwozi, among others.
