In a landmark moment for the University of Port Harcourt, history was made on Thursday, February 27, 2024, as Chief Dr. Mujidat Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, the first daughter of Nigeria’s President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, graced the institution with her presence.
The visit was in commemoration of the 12th Anniversary and Awards Ceremony of the Centre for Logistics and Transport Studies, held at the prestigious Center of Excellence Building in Abuja Campus.
The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of a life-sized portrait of Chief Dr. Tinubu-Ojo, alongside the conferment of the prestigious ‘Distinguished Iconic Leader’ award in recognition of her contributions to leadership and national development.
Correspondents reports that the event drew notable dignitaries, including representatives from the Minister for Marine and Blue Economy, the Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) Dr. Dayo Mobereola, officials from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), and other key stakeholders.
At the event, attendees from various sectors and backgrounds engaged in insightful lectures, discussions, and networking activities, further cementing the university’s role as a hub for academic and professional excellence.
Speaking at the anniversary celebration, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Prof. Owunari A. Georgewill, expressed gratitude to all guests and stakeholders for their participation, emphasizing the institution’s commitment to fostering impactful collaborations and intellectual growth.
He noted that the presence of the President’s daughter at the event not only illuminates the significance of UniPort’s academic and administrative strides but also reinforces the university’s status as a center for national discourse and leadership recognition.
