President Bola Tinubu has formally requested the Senate’s confirmation of 19 nominees to serve as Chairman, Managing Director/CEO, and members of the Board of the North-Central Development Commission (NCDC).
The request was conveyed in a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during Thursday’s plenary session. According to the letter, the nominations are in line with the provisions of Part I, Section 2(2)(a) of the North-Central Development Commission (Establishment) Act, 2024.
In his correspondence, the President put forward Cosmas Akyhir from Benue as Chairman, while Tsenyil Yiltsen from Plateau was nominated for the role of Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer. Other nominees for board membership include Dauda Kigbu from Nasarawa, Zakari Jikantoro from Niger, and Sulaiman Ali from Kogi. Also on the list are Rev. Bunmi Olusona from Kwara, Dr Umar Mantu from Plateau, Atotse Abraham from Benue, and Solomon Adodo representing the Federal Capital Territory.
Further nominations include Abdulkadir Usman from the North-West, Habu Mamman from the North-East, Dr Atinuke Owolabi from the South-West, Racheal Nse from the South-South, and Boniface Izziogu from the South-East. For executive positions, the President nominated James Uloko from Benue, Atika Ajanah from Kogi as Executive Director for Projects, Hajiya Bilgis Sanni from Kwara, Hajiya Aishatu Ibrahim from Nasarawa, and Muhammad Bashar from Niger.
President Tinubu expressed confidence in the Senate’s usual expeditious handling of the confirmation process and reaffirmed his highest regard for the legislature’s cooperation.
