The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) management responded to information that had been circulating which claimed only federal institutions qualified for student loans by saying it was false and the public should ignore it.

In a signed statement on Tuesday shared in X Page, Nasir Ayitogo, the lead for media and public relations at NELFUND, admitted that the information was “incorrect.”

According to Ayitogo, there are two stages to the student loan scheme “to ensure effective and efficient management of the process.

Furthermore, Ayitogo restated that the student loan program was intended for both federal and state universities, not just one.

Additionally, the announcement said that only state universities will be allowed to participate in the second phase, with the first phase being reserved for federal institutions.

The announcement stated that the breakthrough was recognized as a component of President Bola Tinubu’s vision for “Renew hope.”
