Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, who represents the Abia South Senatorial District, has disclosed that the National Assembly was not approached regarding the recent acquisition of a new presidential jet.
In his remarks, Abaribe highlighted that the absence of a formal request from the Presidency indicates a deficiency in the legislative function of exercising oversight over the executive branch. He voiced concern over public perceptions that members of the National Assembly are acting merely as rubber stamps for executive decisions.
This statement comes in the wake of the August announcement by the Presidency regarding the procurement of a new Airbus A330 designated for President Bola Tinubu.
