Sen. Aishatu Dahiru-Ahmed, popularly known as “Binani,” has sympathised with families affected by the recent flood disaster in Yola, Adamawa State.

In a statement issued on Monday in Yola, the politician and philanthropist expressed sorrow over the loss of lives and property caused by the flood, which occurred on Sunday.

“My heart goes out to all those who have been impacted by the devastating floods in Yola. The loss of lives, homes, and the displacement of families is a heartbreaking situation, and I share in the grief of our community during this difficult time,” she said.

She described the incident as a tragedy and pledged to support efforts aimed at mitigating future occurrences.

“We are committed to further connecting with all our communities in the state to assess the vulnerabilities within them and continue to advance solutions that will mitigate such occurrences,” she added.

Binani said she would continue to advise relevant government agencies and humanitarian organisations to provide swift relief to displaced persons and assist them in returning to their homes.

She also urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with the authorities.

“I urge everyone to take necessary precautions and to cooperate with the authorities as they work to manage the situation and prevent further loss of life or property,” she said.

She warned of the potential health risks and dangers posed by displaced reptiles during flooding and called on stakeholders to act promptly.

“We will work tirelessly to ensure that our people are safe and that Yola can recover from this tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected,” she said.
