Gov. Uba Sani of Kaduna State has restated his administration’s commitment to completing all ongoing and future projects within his tenure, assuring that no project would be abandoned.
He gave the pledge on Friday during the groundbreaking of township road projects in Rigasa Ward, Igabi Local Government Area, and Zango in Tudun Wada, Kaduna South Local Government Area.
At the Rigasa event, Sani said the road construction would be executed without accruing any debt, stressing that no contractor who completes a project would be owed by the state government.
“The projects will be fully funded. We have already paid 50 per cent mobilisation to the contractor, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), a credible and experienced company,” he stated.
Sani noted that Rigasa, one of the most populous wards in the country, had long been neglected despite its proximity to the city centre and its large population of hardworking residents.
“Rigasa has been overlooked for too long. Its infrastructure deficit is worrisome. But this project is not just about building roads. It is about opening up opportunities for the urban poor who contribute daily to the development of Kaduna State,” he said.
The governor expressed gratitude for the electoral support from Rigasa, recalling that the ward accounted for over 32 per cent of votes from Igabi LGA during the 2023 governorship election.
“For this, I remain eternally grateful. This project is also a way of saying thank you for your trust and support,” he added.
He explained that the Rigasa road project would directly improve the lives of thousands of residents, including farmers, civil servants, and small business owners.
“Through their sacrifices, they contribute significantly to our economy and GDP. Investing in roads like these will enhance livelihoods and stimulate local growth,” he stated.
Sani later moved to Tudun Wada Ward in Kaduna South LGA, where he inaugurated the reconstruction of Zango Road.
He described the project as personally significant due to his connection to the area as a former student of Kaduna Polytechnic.
“I have an emotional attachment to this area. I know the pain residents have endured due to years of infrastructural neglect. Today marks a new beginning for Zango and Tudun Wada,” the governor declared.
He highlighted that the Zango Road project was particularly important because it connects critical locations such as the Zango Cattle Market, Islamic Medical Foundation, School of Health Technology, Sheikh Abubakar Gumi College, and links directly to Kaduna city centre and the Nnamdi Azikiwe Western Bypass.
The governor reiterated his administration’s progress under the Rural Revitalisation Agenda, noting that the first phase of road projects covered 785 kilometres across 85 roads, with 44 completed and the rest nearing completion.
He added that the second phase involved over 50 new roads and bridges totalling 550km.
Sani assured residents that his government remained committed to inclusive development, prudent financial management, and infrastructure delivery without accumulating debt.
“No project will be abandoned. We will complete what we start, and every community will feel the impact of governance,” he concluded.
