A 34-year-old Salesman, Tope Osikote, on Wednesday, appeared before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun for allegedly stealing his employer’s three water tanks, valued at N400,000.

The defendant, whose address was not provided, is facing a count charge of stealing.

The Prosecutor, Insp E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Nov. 18, 2023 at about 2.00 p.m. at GEEPEE Singer area of Ota.

Adaraloye said that the defendant, who was  in charge of sales, stole three water tanks, valued at N400,000, belonging to his employer.

He said that the offence contravened Section 390 of Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mrs O.O. Fadairo, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000, with one surety in like sum.

Fadairo said that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed, with evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.

She, thereafter, adjourned the case till Dec. 9 for trial.
