An early morning explosion at a petrol and LPG station in southeast Rome has left over 20 people injured and caused extensive damage to nearby buildings and vehicles. The incident occurred around 8:00 AM on July 4, 2025, in the densely populated Centocelle-Prenestino area, triggering widespread panic and a massive emergency response.
According to reports, the explosion was caused during a refuelling operation when a gas leak from a truck or pipeline ignited. The initial blast, followed by several secondary explosions, sent shockwaves through the surrounding neighborhood.
