Rivers State Deputy Governor, Prof. Ngozi Ordu, has reaffirmed Governor Fubara’s commitment to establishing the state as a leader in Nigeria’s healthcare sector. She made this declaration during the inaugural induction and oath-taking ceremony for 49 nursing students from Rivers State University, conducted by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria on Monday.
Meanwhile, Hon. Justice Mary Odili, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the 14th Governing Council of Rivers State University, encouraged the new nurses to embrace innovation and maintain the dignity of their profession. She also urged Governor Fubara to grant the new inductees automatic employment within the state civil service.
In her address, Dr. Adaeze Oreh, Rivers State Commissioner for Health, emphasized the government’s dedication to creating a conducive environment in the healthcare sector to address the emigration of healthcare workers. She assured the newly inducted nurses that they would be fully integrated into the state’s internship programs.
