The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has disbursed over N1.644 billion to 776 verified and eligible Next of Kin (NoK) of deceased pensioners under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS).

According to Mr Olugbenga Ajayi, PTAD’s Head of Corporate Communications, the beneficiaries span various pension departments, including the civil service, police, parastatals, customs, immigration, and prisons.

Breaking down the payments, Ajayi revealed that 629 NoKs under the parastatals pension department received N1.481 billion, while 103 NoKs from the civil service pension department were paid N101.14 million. Additionally, 43 NoKs of police pensioners received N58.95 million, and one NoK from the customs, immigration, and prisons pension department was paid N2.431 million.

Ajayi quoted PTAD’s Executive Secretary, Tolulope Odunaiya, emphasizing that the payments reflect the agency’s commitment to settling the entitlements of deceased pensioners, subject to the availability of funds.

She noted that PTAD is working diligently to clear outstanding pension liabilities, describing the latest disbursement as a significant step toward achieving that goal.

“Paying death benefits to Next of Kin is a crucial part of PTAD’s mandate, providing financial relief to families who have lost their loved ones,” Odunaiya stated.

She added that the payments were expected to bring comfort to the beneficiaries, and PTAD was proud to positively impact their lives.

Reaffirming PTAD’s dedication to pensioners and their families, Odunaiya assured them that the directorate remains committed to ensuring efficient and timely disbursement of pension benefits.

She also reiterated PTAD’s resolve to uphold its mandate in alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, ensuring that all pensioners and their Next of Kin receive their rightful entitlements.
