A private school owner, Mr Richard Olaiya, has advised teachers to embrace Information Communication Technology (ICT) in order to improve their performance and ensure effective delivery of service.

Olaiya, the Proprietor of Young Champions Nursery and Primary School, Ilorin, Kwara, gave the advice on Saturday in Ilorin during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

According to him, it is essential for teachers to have adaptive knowledge to technological advancements in order to bridge existing gaps in the learning environment.

“Teachers must upgrade and embrace ICT knowledge for effective delivery of service. They need to follow global trends of digital literacy.

“When the teachers are rich in ICT knowledge, it will help in preparing students for the job market.

“For Nigerian students to compete perfectly in the international world, there is need for teachers to brace up and embrace digital skills,” he said.

Olaiya called on government at all levels to provide an avenue for training and retraining of teachers on ICT expertise.

According to the proprietor, teachers should also to invest in ICT skills and stop waiting for government to do everything for them.

“ICT skills will add more value to teachers and equip them to be the best among their peers,” he said.
