The Executive chairman of Obio Akpor local government, Ambassador Chijioke Ihunwo is appealing to the chairmanship candidates in the LGA who contested the October 5th election with him to withdraw their cases at the election petition tribunal.
Ambassador Chijioke Ihunwo told them that there is no need to continue to waste time and resources at the tribunal since the election has come and gone.
He was speaking when he granted an audience to the coalition of the chairmanship candidates at his office on Tuesday.
Ambassador Chijioke Ihunwo said the future of the people of Obio Akpor local government is now bright after he dismantled the structure that limited the people from growing and called for collaborative efforts in taking the LGA to the promised land.
” I want to sincerely thank you all for the visit and for the congratulations but one thing we must know is that this local government belongs to all of us,it is not anybody’s private property hence we must jointly protect it from the hands of those who want to perpetually entrenched themselves in the affairs of our LGA,we must not accept their greed.”
” We are also aware that most of you are in the tribunal challenging the outcome of the October 5th local government election,I want to use this medium to appeal that you withdraw your cases because of the many things we are doing to make life better for our people,let’s rather join hands together to develop Obio Akpor for the good our people and generations yet on born.”
Earlier,the leader of the coalition of chairmanship candidates in Obio Akpor,Hon.Darlington Chibuike told his host that the visit was to congratulate him on his victory at the poll.
Hon.Darlington Chibuike said that they have all accepted the outcome of the October 5th local government election and pledged their support for governor Siminalayi Fubara.
“We, the coalition of chairmanship candidates in Obio Akpor local government are here to congratulate you on your victory in the October 5th local government election,to also thank the Executive governor of Rivers state,Sir Siminalayi Fubara for ensuring a credible election,as a coalition we are ready to work with your leadership,all we are asking for is that you carry us along in the scheme of things.”
The delegation includes candidates from Zenith party,YPP,APGA amongst others.
