PDP National Working Committee Nullifies Expulsion of Imo Lawmaker Ugochinyere Ikeagwuonu

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has officially dismissed the expulsion of Ugochinyere Ikeagwuonu, the Representative for the Ideato North/Ideato South Federal Constituency, from the party’s ranks in Imo State.

Ikeagwuonu was suspended by the Ideato Local Government Area (LGA) chapter of the PDP in a letter issued on December 5, citing alleged indiscipline and anti-party activities. However, the NWC has responded by nullifying this action.

In a statement released by PDP’s spokesman, Debo Ologunagba, the committee declared the purported expulsion “null and void and of no effect.” The NWC emphasized that the expulsion was not in alignment with the provisions set forth in Sections 57 (7) and 59 (3) of the party’s Constitution, as amended in 2017.

This decision reaffirms the NWC’s commitment to upholding the constitutional processes within the party and ensures that disputes are resolved in accordance with established rules. The announcement highlights the NWC’s authority and the importance of maintaining party unity ahead of future electoral endeavors.
