Gov. Ademola Adeleke of Osun has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to deepening democratic values and promoting the welfare of residents as the state marks its 34th anniversary.

Adeleke, in a statewide broadcast on Wednesday in Osogbo, said it was a source of pride that his government was building a strong, resilient system of governance anchored on transparency, accountability, and good governance.

*“We are building a strong, virile, and resilient democratic governance for delivering sustainable value to our citizens based on good governance.

“We recognise that democracy is not just a system of government, but a way of life that values the rights and dignity of every citizen,”* he said.

The governor paid tribute to the state’s founding fathers and mothers, recalling the struggles that led to the creation of Osun on Aug. 27, 1991. He pledged to work toward a state where no citizen would be left behind.

He noted that the vision of an enviable Osun could only be achieved through a partnership between government and citizens, built on honesty, dedication, and love for the homeland.

“On this 34th anniversary, let us draw inspiration from the struggles of our heroes past and renew our commitment to building a state that future generations will be proud to inherit,” he said.

Adeleke listed some of his administration’s achievements, including efforts to grow the economy, improve healthcare and education, and boost agricultural productivity.

He urged traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil servants, artisans, farmers, and entrepreneurs to continue playing active roles in the state’s development.

“Together, we can overcome any obstacle. Our strength lies in our unity, our diversity, and our shared vision for a prosperous and peaceful Osun. Let us reject divisions, embrace unity, and place the interest of the state above all else,” he added.
