The Oginigba community in Obio Akpor local government has reported devastating losses exceeding 300 million naira in cash and property following an alleged invasion of their market.

Kingsley Chinda, chairman of the Oginigba market, spoke on behalf of the community, claiming that the team of policemen involved in the invasion was allegedly led by Kingsley Chinda, the member of the House of Representatives representing Obio Akpor Federal Constituency One.

Chinda accused the federal lawmaker of attempting to forcibly acquire land from the community after they declined to sell over 100 plots to him and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Elder George Ariolu, another leader within the community, firmly asserted the community’s stance, stating, “We will not give out our ancestral land to him nor to any other person.”

Attempts by our correspondent to reach the federal lawmaker, Kingsley Chinda, for his response to the allegations were unsuccessful, as he did not answer calls nor reply to text messages sent to his mobile phone.

The situation has sparked tension within the community, and local leaders are calling for immediate action to address the grievances and restore peace.
