The Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) says it is actively addressing complaints over delayed June salary payments affecting some federal civil servants.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Director of Press and Public Relations, Bawa Mokwa, explained that the delay primarily affected workers whose salaries were to be credited via Zenith Bank Plc.

“Upon investigation, it was discovered that the salary payments for employees across various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) were affected due to a technical network glitch in the bank,” he said.

Mokwa acknowledged the frustration experienced by affected employees and assured them that urgent steps were being taken to rectify the issue.

“We deeply regret the inconvenience this unfortunate incident has caused and wish to assure all affected employees that immediate steps have been taken to resolve the issue,” he noted.

According to the statement, the OAGF is collaborating with relevant service providers and stakeholders to reprocess all failed transactions promptly.

“Concrete steps have already been taken to isolate the problem and arrangements are underway to reprocess the failed payments in the shortest possible time,” Mokwa said, urging staff to remain calm.

He added that beyond the June salary delay, efforts are ongoing to continue the payment of the outstanding four-month arrears of the ₦35,000 wage award to eligible government workers.

The OAGF reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and efficiency in payroll operations, assuring the public of sustained improvements through stakeholder engagement.

“Your patience and understanding during this difficult time are highly appreciated,” the statement concluded.
