The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has called on Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State to fulfil his promise to construct and rehabilitate hostels for camp officials and corps members.
The NYSC State Coordinator, Alhaji Ibrahim Sa’idu, made the appeal on Friday in Katsina during the swearing-in ceremony for the 2025 Batch ‘A’ Stream II corps members.
Sa’idu commended the governor for his ongoing support to the scheme but emphasised the need for additional intervention.
“We, however, look forward to further collaboration and intervention in key areas such as provision of additional hostel blocks for camp officials, and the renovation of corps members’ hostels,” he said. “Also, the supply of lecture tents and additional plastic chairs would enhance comfort during training and lectures.”
He stressed that such improvements would boost morale among staff and corps members and improve the overall camp experience.
Sa’idu also announced that registration for the orientation course began on June 11 and ended June 12, with 1,201 corps members registered — 619 males and 505 females. He added that late registration would continue until midnight on Friday.
In remarks delivered on his behalf by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Abdullahi Faskari, Governor Radda welcomed the new corps members and assured them of a supportive environment.
“We in Katsina are NYSC-friendly, and I want to assure you of a conducive atmosphere throughout your service year,” he said. “I have no doubt that you will find Katsina a home away from home, as our people are generally receptive and accommodating.”
He urged the corps members to fully engage in all orientation activities and commended their contributions to the development of the state, especially in education and healthcare.
“I challenge you to live up to the standard already set by your predecessors for the progress and development of the state and the nation in general,” Radda added.
