The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation to the Law programme and seven other academic disciplines at Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT).
According to the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Ikechukwu Ani, the development was conveyed in a letter addressed to the Vice Chancellor, Prof Aloysius Okolie, by the NUC Executive Secretary, Prof Abdullahi Ribadu, on Wednesday in Enugu.
Ani explained that the full accreditation followed the outcome of the October/November 2024 assessment of academic programmes across Nigerian universities.
The accredited programmes include Master of Science in Business Management, Education Computer Science, Education Physics, Agricultural Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Urban and Regional Planning, and Applied Microbiology.
He noted that the letter referenced Section 10(1) of the Education National Minimum Standard and Establishment of Institutions Act, CAP E3, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, which empowers the NUC to establish minimum academic standards and accredit programmes in Nigerian universities.
He said the same provision authorises the commission to carry out such accreditation exercises.
