Nigerian Society of Engineers has conferred Fellowship status on 261 engineers, charging them to uphold integrity, ethics, and contribute meaningfully to national development.
During the Fellowship Conferment Ceremony held on Monday in Abuja, NSE President and Chairman-in-Council, Mrs Margaret Oguntala, described the elevation as recognition of the inductees’ professional excellence and dedication to advancing engineering and technology in Nigeria.
“I congratulate you on this noble feat. However, this honour comes with profound responsibility,” she said. “You must uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ethics and serve as role models to the next generation of engineers.”
Oguntala noted that the Fellowship was not merely an accolade for past achievements but a lifetime commitment to ethical conduct. She added that the Society reserves the right to revoke the honour from any Fellow found guilty of misconduct or actions that undermine NSE values.
Calling on engineers to align with national aspirations, particularly in infrastructure development, Oguntala said the Society was working in collaboration with stakeholders across public and private sectors to promote sustainable growth.
Chairman of the Board of Fellows, Maliki Kamila, described the Fellowship as the NSE’s highest professional honour and a call to greater responsibility.
“Each of the 261 inductees has undergone a rigorous and transparent selection process. They have demonstrated leadership, excellence, and integrity,” Kamila said.
He encouraged the new Fellows to champion engineering education, research, and innovation nationwide.
Responding on behalf of the new Fellows, Ms Jennifer Adighije, Managing Director and CEO of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company, expressed appreciation to the NSE for the recognition and pledged continued dedication to national development.
