The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has applauded President Bola Tinubu for appointing experienced professionals to lead the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd.

In a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja, NSE President Margaret Oguntala described the appointments as a case of “putting the right peg in the right hole.”

Oguntala commended Tinubu for ensuring that individuals with extensive engineering, technical, and leadership expertise would steer the affairs of NNPC Ltd. She expressed confidence that the new leadership would drive efficiency, transparency, and innovation in the oil and gas sector.

“NSE extends heartfelt congratulations to President Tinubu on the appointment of Bashir Bayo Ojulari as the new Group Chief Executive Officer, Ahmadu Musa Kida as Non-Executive Chairman of NNPC Ltd, and other board members.

“This strategic decision underscores the President’s commitment to revitalizing NNPC Ltd and strengthening Nigeria’s energy security through the oil and gas sector.

“I commend President Tinubu for ensuring that professionals with vast experience in engineering, technical operations, and leadership are at the helm of NNPC Ltd,” she said.

Oguntala noted that the move aligned with global best practices in energy governance, adding that the appointments would be instrumental in achieving sustainable energy security, infrastructural growth, and economic development.

She reaffirmed NSE’s commitment to supporting the administration’s efforts toward national development and energy sustainability, expressing optimism about collaboration with NNPC Ltd under its new leadership.
