The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has raised concern over what it described as a coordinated sabotage effort by both internal and external actors aimed at undermining its leadership and reform agenda.
In a statement issued by the company’s management on Friday in Abuja, NNPC Ltd. alleged that a syndicate of known and unidentified individuals had embarked on a misinformation campaign intended to discredit its ongoing transformation.
“There is an emerging campaign of sabotage orchestrated by individuals and groups threatened by the ongoing reforms aimed at making NNPC Ltd. a corruption-free and performance-driven national energy company,” the statement read.
The company said the tactics of these saboteurs include the deliberate circulation of fabricated stories designed to distract its leadership, mislead the public, and erode trust in its workforce.
“These are calculated efforts by those who feel threatened by reform, transparency, accountability, and change. It is a clear indication of the lengths to which they will go to obstruct the transformation of Nigeria’s foremost energy institution,” the management stated.
It added that more defamatory reports could be expected in the coming weeks but maintained that it would not be deterred from implementing its transformation goals.
NNPC Ltd. called on its staff, stakeholders, and all patriotic Nigerians to remain focused and not be swayed by attempts to derail its reform efforts.
