Niger Delta Region – Troops from the 6 Division of the Nigerian Army have successfully recovered over 1.2 million litres of stolen crude oil during operations conducted across the creeks of the Niger Delta. The operations took place from November 25 to December 1, leading to significant disruptions of illegal oil bunkering activities in the region.

Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah, spokesman for the 6 Division, reported that the military efforts resulted in the deactivation of more than 56 illegal oil bunkering camps, alongside the seizure of 88 cooking drums and 20 speed boats utilized in the illicit trade.

In addition, Lieutenant Colonel Jonah noted the arrest of 17 suspected oil thieves, along with the confiscation of seven vehicles. The operations also led to the destruction of six illegal connection points and five motorcycles used in the perpetration of these economic crimes.

These coordinated efforts were executed in collaboration with sister agencies across Bayelsa, Rivers, and Delta states.
