The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has received 124 complaints of human rights violations in March and April.
Alhaji Shehu Abdullahi, the NHRC State Coordinator, disclosed this in an interview with correspondent on Friday in Kano.
He stated that 71 of the cases had been addressed, while 53 were still pending.
Abdullahi noted that 83 of the cases related to children’s, women’s, and gender abuses.
“Twenty of the cases received during the period under review involve abandonment of family responsibility and domestic violence,” he explained.
“The remaining 21 cases concern economic and cultural rights, labour, and physical violence,” Abdullahi added.
He further explained that the commission had also intervened in marital matters, urging couples to exercise patience and manage their responsibilities together.
