The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCOS), Rivers State Command, has reaffirmed its commitment to prioritise and promote the mandate of the agency.
Mr Stephen Ugbah, the Assistant Controller-General, the Nigerian Correctional Service, Rivers Command, made the remark during his reception ceremony as the new Zonal Coordinator, Zone 1 of the command in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Controller Felix Madumere was also received while Controller Felix Lawrence was sent forth.
Ugbah said that his administration would wholly focus on the Controller-General’s agenda of promoting the image of the Nigerian Correctional Service.
He urged the staff to continue to support the effort of the Controller-General in fighting against crime and social vices in the society as well as also promote the image of the agency.
“He also urged them to ensure that collaboration and peace ruled in the service in order to promote its image.
Ugbah, however, commended the Controller-General, Mr Sylvester Nwachukwuche, for bringing the administration closer to the people by increasing the number of zones from eight to 18 zones.
He stated that the Zone I which comprised of Bayelsa and Rivers commands was one of the new zones created out of the 18 zones.
He applauded the service Commanders from the sister agencies who graced the occasion.
In his remarks, the new Controller, Felix Madumere, assured that the two commands in the zone would not only work together but give their maximum support to the agency to succeed.
Madumere said that the challenges facing the new zone should be one of the reasons for the two commands to cooperate to take the zone to higher heights.
‘’I intend to improve on whatever level of cooperation my predecessor, Felix Lawrence, has given the sister agencies and also exceed the level he has gone,” Madumere said.
In a remark, the Controller of Corrections, Bayelsa State Command, Hope Imoroa, assured that the two states would work in synergy to succeed.
The News Agency of Nigeria NAN reports that the occasion was graced by service commanders from Nigerian Immigration Service, Federal Road Safety Corps, Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Civil Defense Corps, among others.
