In a statement, the NCoS Spokesman, Abubakar Umar, said that the meeting with the directorate heads marked the beginning of a new era in the NCoS, with a focus on transformation, innovation, and excellence.
Nwakuche said the development sets the stage for significant strides in the Service’s mission to ensure public safety and effective offender management.
This, he said was necessary as the NCoS continued to evolve and adapt to emerging challenges in the correctional sector
Nwakuche pledged to build on existing reforms while introducing fresh strategies aimed at improving inmate rehabilitation, addressing overcrowding, and enhancing the welfare of correctional officers.
The Acting CG said that his vision was to create a secure and humane correctional system that prioritises the safety and well-being of both inmates and officers.
This, he said would be to also ensure that offenders were rehabilitated and reintegrated into society.
Nwakuche called on all officers to remain committed to their duties, assuring them of his support in fostering a world-class correctional system.
“I am committed to supporting you in your duties, and I expect the same level of commitment from each and every one of you,” he said.
