The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), in partnership with the Alternative Bank, is set to launch a digital platform for its Hajj Savings Scheme (HSS) to ease access for intending pilgrims.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja by the commission’s Information Officer, Malam Kabir Muhammad.

According to Muhammad, the platform will enable intending pilgrims to open and manage their Hajj Savings accounts directly from smartphones, tablets, or computers, simplifying access to the scheme and widening its reach nationwide.

The development followed a meeting between HSS officials and a delegation from the Alternative Bank in Abuja. The session was led by the Head of HSS, Mr. Abdulmumin Aliyu, and IT expert, Mrs. Rabiat Akinwale, who represented the bank, alongside senior staff of both organisations.

Aliyu described the initiative as a major leap in modernising Hajj preparations by making it easier for prospective pilgrims to save for their spiritual journey.

“The website will give intending pilgrims full control over their savings accounts on any device. It will also integrate Alternative Bank’s branch services nationwide, provide real-time information, eliminate paperwork, and cut delays once applicants register with their BVN, NIN, phone number, and email,” he said.

Akinwale, on her part, assured NAHCON of the bank’s commitment to building a secure and user-friendly platform.

“Our goal is to ensure pilgrims can open and monitor their HSS accounts anytime, anywhere, while upholding the highest standards of security and transparency,” she said.
