MTN Nigeria Communications Plc, in partnership with the School of Media and Communication, Pan-Atlantic University, has announced the commencement of applications for the fourth cohort of the MTN Media Innovation Programme (MTN MIP-4). The programme, designed for media practitioners and content creators, is set to begin on May 19, 2025, at the university’s main campus in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos.
Launched in 2022, the initiative aims to deepen the understanding of the evolving media landscape among professionals in the industry. The six-month fully funded certificate fellowship includes a study visit to the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. It is open to practitioners from various media sectors, including print, broadcast, online platforms, and social media content creation.
Reflecting on the programme’s impact, Tobe Okigbo, Chief Corporate Services & Sustainability Officer at MTN Nigeria, stated that MIP was designed to enhance reporting capabilities and expand knowledge of the technology sector. He emphasized that the progress recorded over the past three years has been inspiring, encouraging eligible professionals to take advantage of this opportunity by applying for the next cohort.
Dean of the School of Media and Communication, Pan-Atlantic University, Dr. Ikechukwu Obiaya, noted that the initiative continues to evolve to meet the demands of an ever-changing media landscape. He stressed the importance of nurturing a new generation of media professionals who can drive innovation and uphold ethical journalism.
At the conclusion of the training, 20 successful participants will be certified as Fellows, having gained in-depth knowledge of Nigeria’s technology sector, media-tech relations, and content creation strategies. They will also benefit from professional mentorship and career development resources.
Applications open on Monday, March 24, and close on Monday, April 7, 2025.
