An Area Court in Jos on Thursday, sentenced a man, Abubakar Mohammed, to three months imprisonment for  stealing a cell phone worth N23,000.

The judge, Shawomi Bokkos, who sentenced Abubakar after he pleaded guilty to the offence, gave him an option of N15,000 fine.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Labaran Ahmed, told the court that the case was reported at the Nassarawa Gwong Police Station, Jos, on  Sept. 30, by the complainant, Mr Abubakar Yunus.

Labaran said that Abubakar stole the phone belonging to a trader at the Fillin Ball Market.

He said that during police investigation, Abubakar confessed to have committed the crime.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened the Plateau State Penal Code Law.
