A 32-year-old man, Daniel Thomas, was on Wednesday arraigned before a Wuse Magistrates’ Court over an alleged N3.5 million fraud involving a land transaction.

The defendant, a resident of Gwarinpa in the Federal Capital Territory, is facing a four-count charge of joint act, criminal breach of trust, cheating, and intimidation.

The prosecuting counsel, C. C. Okafor, informed the court that the offences were committed in 2024.

She alleged that the defendant, alongside two accomplices currently at large, fraudulently obtained N3.5 million from one Emokpaire Enahoro under the pretext of selling a plot of land in the Jikwoyi area of the FCT.

According to Okafor, after collecting the money, the defendant and his accomplices failed to deliver the land and subsequently fled.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Magistrate M. A. Saddeeq granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1.7 million with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the matter until June 25 for hearing.
