A violent altercation on a train in Germany resulted in one man biting off part of another man’s ear, according to police reports on Monday.
The incident occurred aboard a Deutsche Bahn train travelling between the south-western cities of Mannheim and Stuttgart.
The confrontation reportedly began when an unidentified man accused a 43-year-old passenger of staring at his partner. The argument escalated, leading the suspect to bite off a portion of the other man’s ear. In response, the 43-year-old retaliated by biting the assailant’s finger.
Police said the attacker and his companion managed to disembark at Stuttgart Central Station and flee the scene. Authorities are still working to establish the suspect’s identity.
The injured man was taken to hospital, where the severed part of his ear was reattached.
