A 32-year-old man, Olaniyi Ahmed, on Wednesday appeared before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State, for allegedly stealing 400 pieces of scaffolding clips.
The defendant, whose address was not disclosed, is being tried before Magistrate L.K.J Layeni on a count charge of stealing.
He, however, pleaded not guilty.
Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Simon Uche, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Nov. 19 at Aspamda New Extension, Trade Fair complex, Ojo.
He alleged that the defendant stole 400 pieces of scaffolding clips at the Aspamda New Extension.
The prosecutor said that the clips belonged to a company, Volia Nig. Ltd., represented by one Mr Daniel Monday.
He said the total value of the allegedly stolen goods was N920,000.
The offence, according to him, contravenes the provisions of Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The magistrate granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case until Jan. 8, 2025 for mention.
