A 33-year-old man, David Akingbade, was on Friday arraigned in Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for allegedly stealing jewellery and property worth N3 million.
Akingbade, whose address was not provided, was charged with house entering and stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Insp Iyabo Oladoyin told the court that the defendant committed the offences around August, at about 2.00 p.m, at New Garage area of Ibadan.
Oladoyin said the defendant entered the house of Kayode Shonibare and packed all his property out.
She said the defendant stole Shonibare’s wife’s jewellery, microwave, refrigerator, laptop, aluminium cutting machine, and wristwatch, all totalling N3.4 million.
Oladoyin said the offences contravened Sections 412 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Adebola Adeola granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one reliable surety in like sum.
She adjourned the case until Dec. 6, for hearing.
