A 29-year-old man, Mustapha Ogunronke, on Friday appeared before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for allegedly belonging to a secret cult.
The police arraigned the defendant on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and belonging to unlawful society, to which he, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecuting Counsel, ASP Foluke Adedosu, told the court that defendant conspired with others now at large to commit the offences.
Adedosu, who said that the defendant belonged to Aye Confraternity, which is an unlawful society, stated that he was apprehended at Iyana-Church area of Ibadan.
According to him, the offences contravene Sections 64(a) and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs T.A. Oyediji, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000, with two sureties in like sum.
Oyediji adjourned the matter till Feb. 19 for hearing.
