A 28-year-old man, Adewale Adesina, was on Monday arraigned before an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court over alleged malicious damage.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence between January and April at Abewela Street, Ile-Ife.
Osanyintuyi alleged that the defendant conspired with others now at large to commit malicious damage and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
He said the defendant unlawfully damaged frozen turkey and chicken with a yellow Elepaq generator by secretly connecting an overload supply to the generator of one Olabisi Money without her consent, with the damages valued at N850,000.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 249(d), 453 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge.
Defence Counsel, Mr Mudasiru Raheem, applied for bail, assuring the court that the defendant would not jump bail but would provide responsible sureties.
Magistrate Abosede Sarumi granted bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like amount, who must swear to affidavits of means, reside within the court’s jurisdiction, and have their addresses verified by police.
She ordered that the sureties must possess landed property, submit original receipts to the registrar, present three years tax clearance certificates and provide three recent passport photographs each.
The case was adjourned until Sept. 29 for hearing.
