A 25-year-old man, James Akomolafe, has been arraigned before Magistrate L. A. Owolabi of an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing several Moniepoint POS machines containing over ₦18 million belonging to different owners.

Akomolafe, whose address was not disclosed, faces a six-count charge of conspiracy and stealing. His plea was not taken.

According to the prosecutor, SP Josephine Ikhayere, the defendant and others still at large committed the offences between June and August 2025 at various locations in Ikorodu and Oyingbo, Lagos State.

She said the accused conspired to commit felony to wit: stealing, in violation of Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Ikhayere told the court that on Aug. 15, the defendant allegedly stole a POS machine loaded with ₦2.3 million belonging to one Obinna Donatus, and on Aug. 24, another containing ₦1.8 million owned by Igwe Monday.

She added that on Aug. 25, at about 10:38 a.m., Akomolafe stole a Moniepoint POS machine valued at ₦4.3 million belonging to Nwodidi Ignatus.

Similarly, on June 3 at Apapa Road, Oyingbo Market, he allegedly stole another POS terminal containing ₦8.5 million, property of Okorie Michael, and on Aug. 29, one loaded with ₦1.3 million, owned by Chibueze Odon.

The offences, she said, contravened Sections 280 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Magistrate Owolabi ordered that the defendant be remanded pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and adjourned the case until Dec. 1 for mention.
