Dare Adeleke, Special Adviser on Federal Constituency Matters to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, has launched a scathing criticism against the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over what he described as repeated attacks on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Adeleke, in an interview on Tuesday, accused the former Rivers State governor of undermining democratic values and allegedly working to dismantle opposition parties in favour of making the All Progressives Congress (APC) the only dominant party in Nigeria.

“I strongly condemn Governor Nyesom Wike’s undemocratic and arrogant remarks,” Adeleke stated. “As former governor of Rivers State and now Minister of the FCT, he appears to have turned governance into a personal enterprise. I believe President Bola Tinubu should call him to order.”

The Oyo governor’s aide alleged that Wike’s recent conduct aligns with a broader agenda to ensure President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, accusing him of using personal grievances to destabilize the PDP from within.

How can someone, over personal grievances, seek to destroy political parties? If Wike wanted APC to be the only party in Nigeria, he would have achieved that by now,” he added.

Adeleke also refuted claims made by Wike that Governor Makinde had frustrated internal reconciliation efforts within the PDP. He described the FCT Minister’s actions as deceptive and contradictory, stating that Wike has “been speaking from both sides of his mouth.”

He further alleged that Wike attempted to prevent the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting by orchestrating moves to lock up the PDP national secretariat.

“He behaves as if governance in this country revolves solely around him. We thank Governor Seyi Makinde, who has remained resolute and committed to the truth,” Adeleke said.

The statement adds to the deepening crisis within the PDP, as party leaders and stakeholders continue to grapple with internal power struggles and accusations of sabotage.
