Super Falcons Head Coach Justine Madugu has named a 24-player squad for the 13th Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, with captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, and striker Asisat Oshoala among the top picks.
The squad includes experienced internationals such as Francisca Ordega, Osinachi Ohale, and midfield anchor Halimatu Ayinde, alongside exciting talents like Michelle Alozie, Jennifer Echegini and Deborah Abiodun.
A portion of the squad began training in Abuja on Thursday, with sessions continuing through the weekend before the team departs for a final training camp in Lisbon, Portugal on Sunday.
Also named are Saudi Arabia-based defender Ashleigh Plumptre, home-based goalkeeper Rachael Unachukwu, and defenders Sikiratu Isah and Miracle Usani.
The Nigeria Football Federation has lined up two international friendlies as part of preparations for the tournament. The Falcons will face Portugal in Lisbon on Monday, before taking on Ghana’s Black Queens in Morocco on June 29.
Nigeria, aiming for a record-extending 10th title, will play in Group B against Tunisia, Botswana, and Algeria when the tournament kicks off from July 5 to 26.
